One Happy Shooter - Daystate Red Wolf Rosso Limited Edition

Roger Ososki is smiling today.  He came by the shop to pick up his Daystate Red Wolf Rosso in .25cal.  It is always a great day when you can take a scope off of one of your guns, in Roger case, an earlier generation Daystate Air Wolf, clamp the scope on a new rifle and have it almost dead on at 50 feet - first shot.
We always appreciate your business Roger.  Have fun with your new wolf.

Daystate MK4 with Air Stream - Special Offer

We are proud to be offering a Special Version of the MK4. This rifle will offer all the great features of the MK4 in addition it will include
an installed Air Stream ($125.00 value),
(1) ten shot magazine and  (1) Single Shot Tray

A Cost Savings of $327.00!

Final Price $1,795.00

I have fond memories of an earlier version of this rifle, as it was the first electronic rifle I ever had the chance to shoot.  After first firing, cocking back the bolt for a second shot, I made the mistake in assuming something had broken because there was no resistance in the cocking of the bolt at all.  The owner of the rifle chuckled and told me, this rifle is not like your other air rifles, there is no effort to cock the bolt, the bolt is strictly there to push the pellet into the rifle. Just cock and shoot and have a good time.  That is what I did then and what I have continued to do for many years now with the latest version of the MK4.

Daystate continues to offer state of the art rifles in the PCP world.  I like to think of  the MK4 as a junior Air Wolf, as it has all of the Daystate MCT Air Wolf features, but in a shorter, lighter package

The MK4 rifles I test fired were shooting slightly above Daystate facory specification.  In .177cal was shooting JSB 10.4g @ 940fps - 20.4fpe on high power and 823fps - 15.6fpe on low power. In .22cal was shooting JSB 18G @885fps - 31.3fpe on high power and 766fps - 23.7 on low power.
Overall Length: 36.5 inches
Weight: 7lbs 14oz.
Barrel Length (High Power): 17 inches
Calibers Available: .177 & .22
Safety: Manual, electronic rotary lever with keyswitch isolator
Capacity: 10 Shot Magazine or Single Shot Tray
Fill Pressure: 3335 psi
Air Capacity: 144cc

As a final perk in this package we are including  a $25.00
Store Credit to be used towards additional product any future purchase from Precision Airguns. Store Credit may not be used toward the cost/purchase of the Daystate MK4.

Cold Woods vs Warm Range

This Sunday morning a couple of airgun buddies, Mark, Rick and myself headed out to try Michigan's mid-winter squirrel hunting. Temperatures in the single digits allowed the squirrels to use more common sense then us, as they stayed in their nice warm homes, while we on the other hand roamed the woods, freezing our tails off and did not see a single squirrel.  Oh well, you never know unless you try.

Back at the Shop on the indoor range, Mark and I set up to do some indoor bench rest. This gave me the opportunity to test the latest batch of JSB 18G pellets that just arrived.  Using a Daystate Air Wolf with Huggett system installed, Burris 4.5-14, I shot a perfect 250 13X, well almost...  My shooting buddy Mark needed air for his 40FPE Huntsman XL .22cal, so on shot 18, called a Cold Line while Mark was filling his rifle.
Daystate Air Wolf MCT .22
It was at this point that my attention was drawn to the tv which was airing the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader tryouts.  By the time Mark came back to his bench and the shooting commenced, the visual distraction had caused me to forgot I was using one dot down on the Burris reticle as an aim point   Using the center of the reticle shot number 18 of course hit low.  Firing a second shot and using the proper aim point  I was back on target.  Proving, it was my lack of concentration and not the  Daystate/JSB combination that caused the miss. "Dang those Cheerleaders".   In relaying this story to my wife Nancy, she showed no compassion for the situation and simply said "Good for ya"

Honesty, based on how this rifle/pellet combination performed, I think I'll try using this at our next indoor bench rest.  We will keep you posted on the date of the next event.

New Arrivals from: Theoben, Steyr, Milbro & Daystate

What an exciting week this has been, with the arrival of many new Airguns.   First to arrive was Theoben's New MFR MKII.  This air rile features a carbon fiber shroud and dove tail base. Also the fill gauge has a new location on the side of the rifle. Very Nice Updates to an already great rifle.
Theoben MFR MKII

Next in line came the New Steyr Hunting 5.  I was impressed with the lightness, barely weighing in at 7lbs, the rifles short side cocking action is fast and very easy to use.  This rifle is regulated and is shooting at 31fpe with JSB 18g.

50 Yard - 5 Shot Groups
I negleted to fill up the gun before test firing, as you can see, groups began to drop off, has I shot the last two targets on the right.

After airing up, fired one last 5 shot group at 50 yards on left.
The Milbo Metisse is another new state of the art air rifle.  Very Quite, excellent trigger and great accuracy. The first ten shot group I fired was basically dime size, however, once I settled in and  became familiar with the two shot shuttle system, my second five shot group tightened up even more.

The Highly Anticapted Wolverine arrived on Thursday.  Daystate never disappoints.  If you are looking for the finest Big Bore Air Rifle in production, this should fulfil your needs.  Spec'd at close to 100 ft/lbs and estimted 12-15 shots on a fill.  Holds nice and balances well.  Should be an awesome heavy hitter.

Look forward to more details and airgun action in the future.

FYI: On a personal note, I'm out of the shop till Thursday October 4,2012.
Hope to hear from you then.

With Wind and Bench Rest the Wind Always WINS

Saturday June 2nd brought in the wind and Steve Joseph.  Steve currently lives in Ohio and is a long haul trucker. He is also an avid airgunner and friend.  We were glad to see him in town for the weekend, and we knew there was going to be some airgunning no matter what the weather conditions happen to be.

There was a great selection of air rifles.  Daystate, FX, Steyr and Theoben all had their chance at bucking the wind and attempting to hit the 10 ring.

Rickey B. another local airgun  buddy was also able to join us. Typically when the three of us are together, we shoot 50 yards, tightest group for bragging rights, however in these high wind conditions, we all agreed it was pointless to try.  So instead, we set up bench rest at 25 yards.

Rickey B highest score 244 3X was achieved with his newest acquisition the Daystate's Grey Shadow with JSB 18G.  Shooting at high power just under 40 ft/lb  the extra muscle seemed to really help in the brisk wind.  His Steyr Huner .20cal obtained a similar 244 2X.

Steve's FX Royale 400 performed best for him with 243 6X.  Steve played with some of his other rifles including his Theoben Rapid .20cal and his Theoben MKI 12 ft/lb .20cal   Steve's personal favorite that day was his Royale 400.

My highest score was shot with a Daystate Air Wolf also on high power 246 7X shooting JSB 18G.  Amazingly enough my little 12 ft/lb Steyr Hunter shot a similar 246 4X.  Having a larger scope 6.5 - 20 other than 3-9's that I shot on the other rifles that day, plus really focusing on doping the wind allowed for a very respectable card considering a lower powered rifle and high powered winds.

Looking forward to our next get together and much less wind.

First Day at the 2012 Shot Show

Exciting News from the 2012 Shot Show.  The show opens today with a lot of ground to cover, but here are some of our baseline findings. Daystate was our first stop.  The exciting news is the release of Daystates new Wolverine.

This is going to be Daystates New Premium platform for many of the future Daystate Rifles.  With an overall weight of 7.5 lbs, Gary Cane inspired ambi stock, 400 cc light weight bottle, one piece aluminum receiver, totally new trigger design, pneumatic magazine cycling, 23" fully shrouded barrel.  First Addition will be available in a .30caliber actually .303 to be precise, approximately 104 ft/lbs with 20 shots before refilling.   Other calibers will be available later in the production year.  Pricing not available at the time, this will be Daystates Premium Line, I'm guessing the price tag will be at or slightly above the current Air Wolf pricing.

Future Daystate Huntsmans will feature as standard, very lustrous premium hand rubbed oil finished stocks.

Daystate's  Grey Shadow - One of Daystates most Special Limited Production guns yet.  Based on the popular Air Wolf, this rifle features titanium and gold finishing with some very special Italian engraving.  The stock comes out of Miland Studio on Minelli Spa, and it self is a master piece of Italian craftsmanship.

Daystate's Stefano Gervasoni proudly displays the New Wolverine.

It was nice to bump into Pavel Kolebac the owner of JSB Pellets. Other than keeping current JSB quality production lines moving,
Pavel is finalizing the spec's of the new JSB .30cal pellet.

FX is never one to rest on their laurels, here is a picture of their new Royale Elite.

Notice the four splad barrel retaining screws, which allows for quick and easy caliber chances.  No need to change the loading probe or bolt as all air comes directly from rear bolt assembly.  Power levels are the same as the Royale 400 and Royale 500 basically 30+ ft/lb and 44+ ft/lb.
Higher power levels and Reg'd Versions are in the works.

Another new find was an FX Verminator, using a Royale 400 action, a variety of barrel configuations ranging from shrouded basic calibers to one that shoots arrows style bolts. More to come at a latter date.  Estimated price for the entire package $2,000.00

Brad at Hawke Optics demo's a few new products for us.  The Panorama's have 4 new models, featuring 3-9x40, 3-9x50, 4-12x40 and 4-12x50, all featuring 1/2 mill dot, IR as well as adjustable objectives down to 15 yards.  Prices will range from $179.00 - $219.00 Look for additional information on our website when we receive them in stock.

Other new items we saw were a windage adjustable one piece mount as well as a flash light lazer combination which fits 1" or 30mm tubes.

Windage Adjustable Mount - Price Range $53.00 for the 1" and  $62.00 for the 30mm

Some nice targets, not available at this time, but hopefully will be in the future. Great for informal FT shoots, no need to put up lines or the need to re set, targets have a cartridge that hold 20 biodegradeable chalk disks, and automatically reset once disk is shot out of target.  Lets hope they make it to production.

Airs Arms Booth - Featured their Classic High Quality products.

That concludes our first day.
